Mercedes-Benz is reportedly working on a range of electric cars with a goal of getting a price tag of at least $100,000.
It’s unclear what the car will cost, but the automaker said in a statement it would likely go for the cheapest model.
The electric carmaker also has a contract to sell 100,000 electric vehicles by 2021.
“It will be a great honor to be able to offer this great range of premium electric cars for sale to our customers, but at the same time we are committed to ensuring that every vehicle we sell has a price that reflects the cost of production, maintenance and fuel costs,” the company said.
“As we continue to accelerate our EV development and continue to drive the technology forward, we can’t afford to lose this opportunity to make EVs even more affordable for our customers.”
